La Maddalena is an archipelago of seven islands main (La Maddalena, Caprera, Santo Stefano, Spargi, Budelli, Santa Maria and Razzoli), and other smaller islands, in the province of Olbia Tempio.

The town is famous for its famous beaches, like the famous beach on the island of pink Budelli, set of the film The Red Desert "by Michelangelo Antonioni, as well as for being the last home of Giuseppe Garibaldi, which built the Caprera White House, today a museum.
