Welcome to the Costa Smeralda
The term Costa Smeralda usually indicates that stretch of coastline known as northeastern Sardinia and Gallura, in the dialect Gallura, took the name of "Mountains of stone", translated as' grinding stone.
The site forms a peninsula from the Gulf of Arzachena up to the Cugnana, for a total of 55 km of coastline, making it the longest coastline of Italy, characterized by creeks that alternate with white beaches, from promontories and islands.
Costa Smeralda's history
The forward thrust to the development of this area of Sardinia dates back to the early'60s, when Prince Ishmaelite Karim Aga Khan, founded the Cons
ortium Costa Smeralda, in fact transforming the tourism industry and of the holiday. The main locations are Porto Cervo, Poltu Cuatu, Liscia di Vacca, Capriccioli, Cala di Volpe which is also traditionally associated Porto Rotondo, which administratively not belong to Costa Smeralda.
